What are Dota 2 Majors?
Valve Corporation made a ground-breaking move for the esports industry after releasing Dota 2 in 2013. They introduced Major Championships with colossal prize pools to elevate the game's competitive landscape. The first-ever Dota Major tournaments were held in 2015 at Frankfurt, won by the respected team OG. Bali Major 2023: Schedule and Format
The 2023 Bali Major is split into two key stages: the Group Stage (June 29-3) and the Playoffs (July 5-9). Check out the complete running schedule on our detailed Bali Major 2023 overview page on our blog.
Group Stage (June 29 - July 3)
- Two groups of nine teams each, A and B.
- Single round-robin format - all matches are best-of-two.
- The top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs Upper Bracket
- 5th and 6th place from each group advance to the Playoffs Lower Bracket
- Remaining teams are eliminated
Playoffs (July 5 - 9)
- 12 teams altogether.
- Double-elimination bracket - all matches are best-of-three, except the Grand Final.
- Grand Final on July 9 is best-of-five.

Team Aster is one to watch at Bali Major, with heaps of hype surrounding their newest member, Hassan. His move into the mid-lane is arguably the most impactful roster change Aster has made in the 2023 DPC season.
